July 25: Departure Day, Miami to Buenos Aires

Group Meeting:

At 7:30 PM, meet your leader and fellow students at the American Airlines check-in counter (outside of security) at Miami International Airport (MIA). This is the official start of your Putney program!

Group Flight:

The group will fly on American Airlines flight #931 departing Miami (MIA) at 10:25 PM, arriving in Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE), at 8:23 AM local time on July 26 (9 hours en route).

July 26: Buenos Aires

Begin with one night in Buenos Aires to get acclimated after the long journey and have an in-depth orientation in preparation for the program. Discuss group dynamics, upcoming challenges, and the vibrant culture of Argentina. Explore the city’s European influenced culture, savor delicious Argentine cuisine, and explore the roots of tango in the old immigrant neighborhoods of the 19th and 20th centuries.  

July 27–29: El Calafate

Fly from Buenos Aires (AEP) to El Calafate (FTE). Arrive in the evening to El Calafate, jumping off point for Patagonian adventures. Together with professional guides, explore the enormous Perito Moreno Glacier, then take a boat ride to see as it calves chunks of ice into Lago Argentino. Acquaint yourself with the rustic gaucho lifestyle of Patagonia as we spend an afternoon out on a working estancia, capping off the day with a proper Argentine grill out or asado.

July 30–August 3: Ushuaia

Fly from El Calafate (FTE) to Ushuaia (USH). Explore the hilly streets of the southernmost city of the world and gateway to the Antarctic. Savor the best of austral winter, skiing the slopes of Cerro Castor for 3 days, snowshoeing and cross country skiing through the pristine forests of the southern Andes, and catching a ride with dogsleds across snowy meadows.

August 4: Travel Day

Fly from Ushuaia (USH) to Buenos Aires (AEP). Enjoy one final meal in Buenos Aires before an evening flight back to Miami.

August 5: Return Day, Buenos Aires to Miami

Group Flight:

The group will fly on American Airlines flight #900 from Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE), returning to the International Arrivals Area of Miami International Airport (MIA) at 4:21 AM on August 5 (9 hours, 30 minutes en route).

Connecting Flight Departures:

If you are flying out of Miami, please purchase a connecting flight that departs Miami International Airport (MIA) anytime after 6:30 AM on August 5.
